October has been a month of new music releases for artists from several different genres. Tyler, the Creator released ‘Chromokopia’ on October 28th, and The Weeknd released a new single with Anitta titled ‘São Paulo’ on October 31st. In addition to this, November is a month of upcoming music releases, with Shawn Mendes’ new album, self titled ‘Shawn’, and Ethel Cain’s upcoming project ‘Perverts’ of which the first single titled ‘Punish’ was released on November 1st.
Chromokopia- Tyler, the Creator
Released on October 28th, Chromokopia was a much anticipated release from fans around the globe, as Tyler’s last full album dropped in 2021. This album, Tyler explores self discovery and showcases his ability to to stay true to himself, in a world where fitting in is often the easy way out. Anonymous YHS Junior says “I think compared to other albums it’s very emotional, specifically ‘Take Your Mask Off.’ I think it’s very powerful in the sense of wanting to inspire people to be themselves. It feels very real and deep. Even though this album isn’t meant for me per say, it’s very creative and I can still find it relatable.”
São Paulo- The Weeknd featuring Anitta, and ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’
The artists debut their new single during a ‘One Night Only’ concert from The Weeknd in Brazil. According to Billboard Brazil, this single is a part of his upcoming project, ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow.’ The release date for this album is unknown, but fans speculate that it will be released sometime in 2024, as it is the third and final installment of his trilogy which began with ‘After Hours’ in 2020, followed by ‘Dawn FM’ in 2022, and finally ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ which is assumed to follow the pattern and be released in 2024.
Heart of Gold, and Shawn- Shawn Mendes
Released on November 1st, singer Shawn Mendes debuts a new single off of his upcoming project titled ‘Shawn.’ This single is emotional and raw, a tribute to his late childhood friend. He dedicates the song to those who have lost someone close to them, whether they have passed or not. His upcoming project ‘Shawn’ is set to debut on November 15th, with a tracklist of 12 songs. It is the singer’s fifth studio album, and his first full length project since 2020.
Perverts and Punish- Ethel Cain
Punish, released on November 1st, is a part of Ethel Cain’s upcoming album, titled ‘Perverts’ which is set to debut on January 8th, 2025. This project is the singer’s second studio album, following Preachers Daughter in 2022. Perverts is set to be around 90 minutes in length, with an unknown tracklist. The singer has teased the album via social media, posting dark and grainy photos as promotional material for the upcoming album. This project includes themes of apathy, curiosity, and distribution. The album ‘Perverts’ is a long awaited follow-up to prior project ‘Preacher’s Daughter’ and is much anticipated by Ethel Cain fans around the world.
