York Boys Hockey defeated Portsmouth ten to zero in a preseason scrimmage on Wednesday November 29th. Second year coach Peter Douris, a former NHL Bruins alumni, was thrilled with the big win to start off the season. His son, senior captain Luke Douris and star attackman led the team with 8 points, 5 goals and 3 assists. Fellow senior Laird Masterson had 4 points with 1 goal and 3 assists. This scrimmage was an exciting one for the York freshman Luccas Cumin who scored his first goal of high school ice hockey. When Laird Masterson spoke about the team chemistry he said “As a senior with lots of experience, compared to previous years this team has never felt more like a family.” Masterson also stated that “The team just gets along.” Senior Captain Luke Douris agreed, saying that “We have a lot of the same players from last year so we are a very tight group.” York Boys Hockey started off their regular season Saturday December 9th with a winning game against Mt Ararat in Bowdoin Maine.
